About Ali
Ali Golden is the sole trainer and rider at Mountain Horse Momentum. She has over 35 years of under-saddle and ground experience in English and Western disciplines, specializing in gaited breeds. Her guiding principles are kindness, respect, and calm confidence. She's started colts, fixed problem horses, and gentled mustangs. She’s been riding since before she could walk and is always training, even when riding bareback after work to pick up the mail. She finds great joy in riding and teaching each horse, but also in sharing her techniques with others to empower them on their equestrian journeys.
Ali is a problem solver, using her "sideways thinking" to find efficient solutions.
When she’s not riding, she’s managing the adventures of her daughter and son, likely with cats and dogs in tow.

Mission
At Mountain Horse Momentum, Ali Golden provides training, confidence, and refinement to all horses, with a focus on gaited breeds and mountain trail activities. With a strong adherence to safety, consistency, and mutual respect, she is fully dedicated to encouraging natural, relaxed, smooth movement from each horse. Ali will also teach you how to communicate these principles with your horse so you can continue to expand and enjoy your partnership.

Why
Ali sees so many horse owners with well-bred, talented horses that are only rarely ridden. They’re naturally gaited, but they’re not smooth to ride, or they may have developed some bad habits. She can correct your horse’s natural gait so they can travel swiftly and comfortably, with minimal aid from you as a rider.
What's more, many riders don’t feel comfortable leaving the safety and predictability of the arena. Backcountry, mountains, and trails can be iffy—rough terrain, wire fences, wildlife, water—all of these are unknowns, and you or your horse may not feel confident in your ability to safely navigate these unexpected hazards. Ali wants to teach you and your horse how to be smooth, safe, and confident, so you can get back into the mountains you love!
